Cane Creek Farm is a wonderful place for children to “unplug,” experience nature, and learn where food really comes from. Our week-long Farm Camp gives children the opportunity to experience life on a sustainable farm by participating in activities such as feeding chickens and gathering eggs, making compost, learning about pollinators and other beneficial insects, planting seeds, harvesting fruits and vegetables, and preparing fresh-picked produce for tasty snacks. In addition, campers will gain a sense of place by exploring creeks, fields, and forests while becoming familiar with the plants and animals that live in our area of Georgia. And of course, they will have plenty of room to run and have fun being children!
We welcome children aged eight to twelve for a week in June. This year we are partnering with Cumming First United Methodist Church. Cherie Perkins, the children’s coordinator at the church will lead the Farm Camp, with plenty of input from the farmer. Children will meet at the church on Canton Hwy and be transported to the farm and back to the church at the end of the day. Farm Camp hours are 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. Children should bring a healthy lunch each day. We will prepare food from the farm produce for snacks. Registration will be through the church.
