We are beginning to slow things down at the farm. The end of the C.S.A season is just around the corner and that leaves of with some time to reflect on how this year went.
We tried a new CSA model, Harvie. It offered a solution to one of the biggest hurtles we face as a CSA, Food Waste. Food waste stretched across the board from Members not using food items that were not preferred to us harvesting more than we needed. Having the ability to customize really showed a positive return for most members. There were other pluses too. The option to put a share on hold and move to a different date, payment plans, and adding on local goods.
Giving the Incubator farmers a place to sell their produce was a big success for us here. There were spots where is was difficult to manage through but with all new endeavors some turbulence is to be expected . I feel at the end of all this they gained experience that will benefit them in their farming future.
